Situated nearly 50 acres Close By Ranch sits in the gorgeous rolling hills of San Luis Obispo County, California, surrounded by miles of open land and wineries. We’re Close By the town of San Miguel, about 10 miles from the Mid State Fairgrounds in Paso Robles. This beautiful setting makes a peaceful atmosphere that enhances your horse experience every time you visit the ranch.
Whatever your discipline or show level, you’ll enjoy exploring the many trails around Close By Ranch and riding in the covered or outside arenas. You see, we are dedicated to training you and your horse to be successful in your partnership and have fun. WE ENJOY OUR HORSES and want you to enjoy yours. We have many family fun events on the ranch, shows, BBQ's and a Saturday/Sunday morning riding club.

Close By Ranch Training Program
Training horses takes intense communication
and focus. We believe that understanding the horses’ needs and abilities
and matching that with your own personal goals works best. We are “soft”
with horses, and use every option we can to keep your horse happy. You
see, horses that are doing what they are good at tend to keep a good attitude
throughout life.

Close By Ranch Riding Lesson Program
After years of riding, showing and teaching children and adults to ride, we found that there are many skills gained by a rider during the course of learning horsemanship. While learning to control a twelve hundred pound animal and bring him to the level of a competitive partner, many life skills are also obtained. Horseback riding is wonderful exercise and an opportunity for you to learn empathy, set and achieve goals, develop a good work ethic, poise, and above all else learn confidence.
